Hours after the eviction deadline of 12:01 a.m., Portland Police interact with protesters, attempting to push the crowd out of the streets. A police officer was injured shortly before 2 a.m. by a projectile thrown from the crowd. Despite being given a 12:01am deadline to leave the parks, Occupy Portland protesters stood their ground and continued to grow in numbers. Portland police attempted to disperse the crowd with their horses but made little progress. As a result, the officers backed down into a 1-block radius in an apparent effort to avoid conflict and wait the crowd out.
